Dean Koontz, other authors that write like him?

Love reading Dean Koontz, but looking for another writer that writes like him, not like Stephen King, he's to gorey. What are some recommendations?

Try John Saul or James Herbert I have lots of their books and they are brilliant

I read James Patterson. His Women's Murder Club series books are real page turners.

No one writes like Koontz - he is in a class of his own, but there are some other writers that are good like him:

James Patterson

Steve Martini

Greg Iles

Steven White

Richard Laymon

Dan Brown (his new one is great - it's called "deception point" and isn't controversial like his davinci code and angels and deamons)

These are all suspense, mystery type books - all good.  Also, I love John Grisham - pick him up every few books.

I would recommend Robin Cook. He writes medical thrillers but I find they are a good read similar to Koontz. I would especially recommend his books revolving around the character's Laurie Montomgery and Jack Stapleton.
