Deans Told Job is Safe
Australian rugby coach, Robbie Deans, has been told that his job is safe despite some dodgy results in the build up to the Tri Nations series.
There were a few calls emerging in and around the Aussie team that it may have been time for Deans to step aside and let someone else coach the team. Australia narrowly defeated Ireland over the weekend and also suffered defeat in the last game they played against England.
Australia are historically always a very strong side during the Tri Nations. However, they will go into this tournament as the weakest of the three teams and many are expecting them to get beaten heavily and consistently.
Deans has many attributes as a coach, which means that it would be beneficial to keep him in his position. However, a fresh face in charge of Australian rugby would surely also lift spirits and inspire the team to start playing to a new level.
Coaching Attributes
Deans has a number of coaching attributes, which show why he should remain as the main man of Aussie rugby. For a start he has a great deal of experience with the current side, the set-up and the facilities. It would take a new coach a little bit of time to come in and settle and this time would not be wasted if Deans is kept on.
It's important to remember the majority of the defeats that the Aussies have experienced during Deans' tenure have all been quite narrow. This proves that the Wallabies side has never actually been playing that badly and they may have just been unlucky at key times during games.
Deans also seems to be a relatively popular figure within the Australian camp. Very few players have ever lost it with him and very few would start calling for his head when the team actually looks quite stable.
A Fresh Face
A fresh face always means new ideas and these new ideas could be the factor which takes the Australian team onto the next level. A few people within the game in Australia are arguing that the way Deans coaches and gets his team to play is very predictable and possibly even the reason they are odds on to lose to the Kiwis and the World Champions, South Africa.
A move like this would also keep all members of the playing squad right on edge because it would mean that no one has a secure place in the side. This is very important because it would ensure that the team would give their all because they would not know how long they'd stay in the team for.
A new face can quite often act as a general release of pressure and lift morale. It becomes something new for the players to look at, experience and get involved in. This creates a buzz and an energy around the team, which could be beneficial especially ahead of such an important series against big sides.
Betting Advice
Firstly, there is no such thing as a bad Australian side and for this reason you can always back the Wallabies with confidence for any match. Look at the players in their team before you decide whom to back. The likes of Quade Cooper and Matt Giteau will always score points.
Ignore odds for Dean getting the sack or walking from his job because this is an option which will not happen. A better bet would be to work out the candidates who will eventually be in line to replace him and get an early bet on while the odds are long.
