Deans Warns New Zealand about their tactics

Australian Wallabies head coach Robbie Deans has warned the New Zealand All Blacks and their head coach Graham Henry that the tactics they used in the Tri Nations Cup will eventually come back and bite them.

Deans comments come one month before the two teams are set to meet in Hong Kong to battle for the Bledisloe Cup. Both counties will begin their tour of the northern hemisphere following the match in October.

The tactics Deans is referring to involve the All Blacks willingness to concede penalties in their own end in order to keep the other team from registering a try. The All Blacks were out-scored from the tee in all their matches because of this decision-making.
However, they only earned one yellow card and had no men sin-binned the entire tournament. Meanwhile, The Wallabies and South African Springboks each had four players placed in the bin.

Deans spoke about the All Blacks tactics, saying. “They make good decisions at critical moments and they get away with things as well through their cunning. But I personally believe that some of their cynicism won’t serve them well in the long run. They’re
an experienced bunch, they’ve had great continuity, which we haven’t had, but I think that will serve us well and I don’t think that will serve them well, because they have some points of vulnerability.”

Australia is trying to end a six game losing streak against the All Blacks, who were in incredible form throughout the entire 2010 Tri Nations tournament, not losing a single Test. Nevertheless, the Wallabies were closest in their last match of the competition,
losing by only a single point.

The Wallabies and All Blacks will meet in Hong Kong on 30 October, before continuing on their northern hemisphere tours.
