Dear Christians...is this true?

Question

It is this simple: If you do not believe the Bible, then you are not a Christian.

This is an answer I just read that someone said. I just want to know, do you take the entire bible literally, or just parts? How do you distinguish which parts are to be taken literally and which parts aren't.

yes I believe that all scriptures is relevant. it is not like a theory which is unproven. but in such verses like

Joh 10:7  Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

we know that Jesus is not an actual door.

You take 100% of the bible as fiction.

The rest of it is just pure rubbish.

My first response to that, then, is that apparently the first three centuries of the Church had no Christians, because it took that long to come up with an accepted text of the bible.

Out of the more than 50 different versions of the Bible in English alone, there is only one true Bible of the word of God, so which one is it? The Gospel reading at Mass each week is enough for me.

It all depends on how you read the Bible, if you read it like a newspaper all your going to get is confused.

I take most of the bible figuratively and look for the morals and values that are conveyed in each story.
