Dear Friends, what do you consider a good way of giving back (adoption or charity) ?

My dear friends, I originally came from humble beginnings from Multan the great place of famous Sufi saints.

In the course of my hectic lifestyle in USA I could not give too much thought to my humble origins. Although I am very busy I would now like to return something.

What would you suggest as most beneficial?

1. Adoption of children

2. Giving charity

I am quite tolerant to all pranks and shenanigans by children and I feel I can manage them.

I am not sure what is the best way. I will look forward for your views. As a charity giver somehow I'm never sure, but, then again I have no idea how to adopt in USA.

Thank you

Rehman of Multan

  1. Adopt and give charity.

  2. I think your time is more valuable, so volunteer work among the poor is a good way to go. There are many organisations & charities needing volunteers. I always prefer to help the Salvation Army, as they help everyone, no matter what their race or religion. You are a very charitable person Rehman to do this, & I admire you for it.

  3. Hi Rehman bhai!! =)

Both ways are really noble :)

I'd choose giving chairty because people should adopt children because they really WANT a child, not because they want to give back to the community. If you truly want a child, go for it!! Charity is really great and you have a lot of options. Choose a cause you are really passionate about. I'm passionate about ending animal cruelty soo I really like the WWF charity that helps stop animal cruelty.

  4. Salaam Rehman Bhai,

Both the two are extremely noble, and choosing one is not easy. If one can adopt a child and shape his life to a good human being, it's simply divine.

Similarly, giving charity to orphanages or social trusts is equally helpful.

But, giving charity to religious institutes is a waste of money.

( It's my personal view, and I'm sorry if it hurts).

  5. A difficult question, and one that only you can answer. All suggestions put forward for your consideration are only that, to be considered.

No one can make that decision for you, for there is so much at stake if the one you make is adoption. The welfare of the child must be paramount in your life. Your love must be channeled away from all others, except for a spouse, and they will have to take second place at times.

Remember also that love for the child cannot come in stages, it must be LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT if you are to succeed.

If you find such a child then you will receive blessings beyond your understanding.

If you feel that you cannot give the love that will be required of you, then by all means give to a charity that you can trust. Some charities spend as much as 60% of monies donated on anything but where it is supposed to go.

God help you to make up your mind.

    Robert

  6. Well in your case I think it would be best to give back by volunteering at a daycare or at a womens shelter or with a similar organization. If saving a child from orphanism is where your heart lies by all means adopt.

    God Bless and Good Luck
