Dear Illustrators, authors, artists! Please answer me!

Question

I am an artist from Russia (now living in Germany) and I'd like to ask someone, who knows how to earn money with illustration. It's extremely difficult in Germany (Germany's Arts is a special theme), so I try to search for jobs Worldwide.

Now I send my works to several Awards (Young Illustrators Award, Shift, Aesthetica Magazine, and Livre jeunesse). I also try to search for agencies, I learn how to make Websites in HTML and Flash and try to make a nice website to show my works.

Last year I sent examples of children book illustrations to a huge number of German publishing houses(I tried several times, each time I painted a completely new seria of pictures), some of them answered, that they took me in their illustrators list, bur never said something again.

Is there someone out there who succeeded to get a job? I would like to Illustrate myth books, childrens books and books for teens. And my pictures are good, but I have no force anymore to fight for them.

Please answer, I'f you have experience with it!

My sister is currently trying to get published. So, she bought a few books (like the dummy's guide, and others) that listed how she could get published, and another book full of agents. Maybe, you could find such a book for your artist abilities? I wish you the best of luck!

Illustration is not my field, but I would suggest to pay more attention to the internet and develop your digital web presence.
