ok so i woke up this morning and he goldfish was stuck with his head in he filter. he is curved with his side facing the floor-same position he was in when i found him. should i keep him stimulated? that's what we've been trying-to keep him moving so he wont just lay down and die. i went to this website:

http://goldfish-emergency.com/viewpage.php?page_id=6

and he has the swimming aimlessly condition and he is sometimes un responsive. he seems to having trouble righting himself and he just sits there in a curve sideways. occasionally he can swim normally but then he will start twirling around-a spiraling of some sort. he's trying really hard. i will NOT flush him. what medication should i give??? we'd have to go out to petco to get it but...o my god i love this fish so much and i really need yur help. he's in a 1.5 gallon tank which i know is really bad but its the biggest tank we have besides the 10 gallon tropical tank that is already occupied. we were working on cleaning out the pond so he could go in there but i dont think we can do that when he's in such a terrible state. he's breathing hard and his gills are open more than normal so u can see the red flesh underneath them. i really really need your help. also, on the website i showed u, should i do any of the massaging or anything??? my mom says she sees some black thing like a peice of p**p stuck in his gill. we are worried that's y he can't breathe. my mom is worried that's y he can't breathe well. i have no idea how we could get that out tho cause its deep in his gill. we did a 50% water change. dear god PLEASE help me. im really worried about the spiraling...

  1. Once, a long time ago, I had a fish (I think it was Guppie) - anyhow, it was acting strange/ill.  I can't remember the details from 20 + years ago, but what I did was put my hand under him/her - not touching, just enough so the energy and warmth of my hand might help. I did it off and on for many hours. I tell you truthfully, that little one recovered.

My best wishes to you, your family, and fishes.

P.S.  If your fish does go to the Rainbow Bridge, don't just flush him.

bury him and say wahtever you like over him.

  2. Is this an injury resulting from his head getting stuck in the filter, or is it possible he got sick in the night and thus became sluggish, which resulted in his head getting stuck in the filter?

  3. Try to gently prop him upright and give lots of oxygen. Hopefully after a day or two he can stay afloat on his own.  As for meds, don't really know if any will help unless he has open wounds, but Melafix might not be a bad idea.

  4. Sorry but he may have hurt himself really bad when he got stuck.

U'll just have to wait and see what happens.
