Death Note Characters-B?

I've seen and read the manga and now i hear that this B was L's successor but he escaped from Wammy house and became a murderer, is this a true character and where could i find some information on him??Or is this just a special character only specialised in Death Note: A last Note???

He doesn't appear in the manga or the anime.

Though the BB cases are referred to.

The case that Naomi worked with L on in the US was the BB case

He is from the Death Note novel: The Los Angeles BB Murder Case starring Naomi Misora and L as the main characters. BB is the antagonist of the novel.
