Death Note DVDs don't work with my DVD Player... Any other way I can watch it?

I've attempted to watch Death Note on several sites on the web but hardly any of them seem to work unless I install something called Zango. And when I tried to install this Zango thingy it didn't even download properly! Anyway, I decided that I'd try to get Death Note on DVD instead if I can't watch it on the internet. The only problem is, I live in Australia so I cannot get DVDs that will work with my Region 4 coded DVD player (They only have Region One for US and Japan). Is there any other way I can watch Death Note in Japanese with the English subs? Any suggestions will do! I'm begging here.

http://www.nickstopfive.com is a teen site with a neat anime section and they have all the death note episodes to watch plus naruto and some other animes..
