CLARE ORTON, one of the sport’s training greats, has died aged 90.
He moved to London from Norfolk when his father, Sidney, was handed the plum job as a trainer at Wimbledon in 1927.
As a schoolboy, Clare would take the legendary Mick The Miller, who was trained by his dad, for walks and in recent years he told me of his joy of seeing Mick win all the rounds of the Cesarewitch at West Ham in 1930.
