i was wondering is it a knock off of twisted metal cause the previews sure make it

Apparently it is a knock-off of something because I read an article (I think it was at Movies.com) that the people that made the movie are getting sued and there was even some question as to whether or not the movie would be allowed to open.  I guess they decided it could open since I think it started showing last night.

There may be some inspiration from it but it is actually a re-imagining of Death Race 2000 (1975) starring Sylvester Stallone and David Carradine.
