Debate: don't ban smoking!?

I have to prepare a debate on why we should not ban smoking! please help me! I don't know what to say!!

There are a multitude of approaches:

1: (what you'll probably choose) Debate how this is NOT about smoking- its about the removal of liberties. Smoking is just the start of a very slippery slope- what is the next thing to be removed, just because it MAY cause harm to others: driving, loud music, fatty food?

2) Economics: The US was built on the tobacco industry. Many, many people throughout the South East still make their money through the sale of tobacco. Putting high taxes on cigarettes, or banning their use is putting countless thousands out of work.

3) Science: Technically speaking it has never been proven that second hand smoke is harmful.  While the US Surgeon General said that it does, the WHO has said that it does not. BOTH groups were using the definition of second hand smoke as someone who is habitually exposed to smokers (i.e. a housewife living with a smoking husband for 20 years), not a guy at a bar who stands next to a smoker.

Remember, your job is NOT to prove that smoking is good.  Its not to prove that it is safe. Its not to prove anything. You job is to make your audience begin to doubt what they think they know. Make them question themselves and you'll win.
