what came first the chicken or the egg or the egg or the chicken

Egg. Some creature must have laid and egg that later became a chicken. That animal that laid the egg must have been a crossed breed closely related to the present chickenand when he laid the egg it resulted in the chicken

Egg, obviosly! Egg has been around for as long as creatures that lay eggs - birds and reptiles. The appearance of chicken has absolutely no relevance here :-p

Wilde is right.  Eggs evolved way before birds ever walked the earth (or flew the skies).  Amphibians and even invertebrates produce eggs.  Reptiles even produce amniotic eggs (the kind that birds make).  And all of these groups were around before birds.

The egg - Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.

Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.
