The topic is we are not slaves of fashion i need help with this any arguments

I am a debater but your topic is just too funny to be a debate topic.If you are in the government team you can always say that,clothes are designed to protect us not to show off and they are are playing their role in a good way.If you are the opposition, you can say that we are more interested in trendy clothes these days.When we choose a particular clothing, we always see that it is in the latest trend first.Only then we buy it.Am i right?Anyway, if you are a first or a second speaker this would be a great help but not if you are a third speaker.If you are a third speaker,my advise is,you do your rebuttals well because your rebuttals carry the most weightage in your teams victory...So,good luck with the debate!
