I was at the airport in Rome, Italy at a Bancomat machine and it ate my card. Is there anyway I can get it back? Or is it destroyed right then and there? I am just asking so I don't waste my time going all the way back to the airport. Thanks guys!!!

  1. You must immediately contact the issuers of the card to inform them of the situation. They will cancel the card and likely isue you an emergency card. DO THIS NOW.

  2. Yes Just ask the bank about this problem or i suggest that to ask the information desk in the airport..

  3. If you wish to avoid having your card cancelled, the normal procedure (it happened to me once) is to contact the bank the Bancomat machine belongs to. I think the one at Fiumicino Airport is Banca di Roma. The "eaten" cards are not destroyed, they are collected by the people who do maintenance on the machines and kept at the bank so the owners can collect them. There should be a sticker on the machine with a toll free number you can call and tell the operator what happened. It might take a few days to get it back. Meanwhile, you might want to get in touch with your bank to let them know, as another answerer suggested.
