  1. Canadian debit cards are different, since most of them don't have a VISA or MasterCard logo like US debit cards.

I've never seen a business in the US that accepts Interac, the Canadian debit card processor.  However, a few Canadian banks also issues debit cards that also have NYCE logos on them.  Many US businesses accept NYCE especially in New York state and New England.

You should have very little problems using your debit card in any ATM.

  2. Depending on what bank you are with! Most banks allow you to use your cards in different countried but sometimes this would includebank fees for exchange rates etc. Contact your bank for rates & you may have your car picked up for fraud reasons so better off contacting your bank

  3. definitely call your bank.  you might get a charge for each of the purchases you make or your bank could turn off your card temporarily for using it out out of the country.

  4. It depends on what logo you have on the front of the card and where you are going to be shopping. Call your bank and they will tell you.

If you have all of that covered do call your banking institution and tell them that you will be making purchases in the US. Your card may work a few times but sometimes when you go to make that next purchase it might be declined.

That is because once the charges go through the banks computers go...... hey wait, this person lives in Canada but US charges are showing up. The assumption is that maybe the card was stolen. Now all you have to do is call the bank and verify who you are but it always happens at an inopportune time.

So just call whatever number that is on the back of your card and ask them about all of this.
