why is it wise to change the pin number of your card from the last four digits of your social to different numbers----if identity theft is from your ENTIRE social?

  1. It is just an extra layer of security in case a thief gets your SSN *and* your card or account number.  They will usually try the last 4 digits of the SSN to unlock the account since it is the default pin.

    If you have a different pin, it is much more difficult for them to access your account even with your account number and SSN.
