Newcastle United are looking to step up their chase for Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy, as the player seems to have caught the eye of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew, following his performances in the Euro 2012.
The club have long been linked with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682, whose thrilling performances in the Euros impressed and dazzled football fans around the world. The French international’s displays in the tournament have brought him into the limelight and he is considered
by many as one of the most notable players of the tournament.
On 19th July, it was revealed that the Magpies followed up their interest with a £4m bid for the Frenchman. However, the bid was considered too low by Lille manager Rudi Garcia, who said it was far below than their valuation of the player. Garcia
said that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew ‘must have (got) the wrong player’.
Sources say that Lille value Debuchy at around £6m, and will not consider selling him at anything below the said valuation. The player himself is said to be facing a dilemma. At one end, Debuchy wants a new challenge and wants to test his abilities in the
Premier League while at the other end, the thought of playing Champions League football with Lille is also a major factor in his decision to stay or leave.
Speaking to French website, Garcia said "I do believe that Newcastle have faxed an offer of £4m - but they must have the wrong player"
"Debuchy is torn between staying with us and playing in the Champions League in our new stadium or going elsewhere.”
"If he does go and it is a sporting progression, then we will be happy to see him evolve - but we have not planned to replace him."
Recently, Rudi Garcia revealed that Debuchy wants to leave, but he also insisted, that they won't let him go until a suitable replacement is found. The manager said that Debuchy is considering his options now that the Euros are over, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan and
Newcastle the most likely clubs to land the player’s signatures.
Garcia is reported to have said; "Mathieu wants to go.”
"But we do not have a plan for him to leave; he will not go unless I find a replacement of the same level.”
"And he is an international player, he will cost - we will need to bring in a right-sided player of the same calibre and that requires a lot of money.”
"I understand his desire to leave, but we must find a replacement - my role is not to put my team in jeopardy."
Debuchy is just one of the players that the Magpies are linked with. Having had an impressive season in the English top flight, the club is looking to build on their strengths and add key players that will make their already impressive squad into a formidable
one. As of now, Newcastle will consider finishing in the top four their top priority, having missed out on a Champions League spot last season on goal difference.
