Deccan Chargers captain Sangakkara blames dropped catches for Delhi Daredevils defeat – IPL news
Deccan Chargers skipper Kumar Sangakkara blamed poor catching for his team’s embarrassing four-wicket defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in an Indian Premier League match on Thursday May 5, 2011.
He cited Virender Sehwag’s two dropped catches as the major cause of the Chargers’ seventh loss in the ongoing competition.
“I don’t think it is anything to do with luck. We had two opportunities to get Viru (Sehwag), had we held those catches, we would have won. It is getting to a point that is costing us games,” a livid Sangakkara said.
Put into bat, the Chargers posted a challenging total of 175, thanks to Jean-Paul Duminy’s classy knock of 55 runs coupled with Sangakkara’s valuable 44 runs in the middle of the innings.
In response, Sehwag took the game away from the home side single-handedly by smashing an aggressive knock of 119 runs. The Delhi captain struck 6 sixes and 13 fours in his innings and helped the Delhi side to overcome the target convincingly with six balls
to spare.
Sangakkara, who will leave for England in order to join the national team after playing three more games in the tournament, admitted that the team missed two valuable chances which eventually cost them the game. The Sri Lanka batsman further said that the
players missed the opportunities at a time when they badly needed a breakthrough. However, Sangakkara gave full credit to Sehwag for his brilliant match-winning innings.

Meanwhile Sangakkara defended his decision to exclude Pragyan Ojha from the playing eleven against Delhi. Expressing complete satisfaction over his bowlers’ performance in the game, the Chargers captain clarified that it was Sehwag’s stunning batting which
put his bowlers under immense pressure.
Rubbishing all the theories that the Uppal Stadium is becoming a jinxed ground for Deccan Chargers, Sangakkara asked his teammates to learn from their previous mistakes and make themselves mentally strong to raise their game in the upcoming matches.
