Deccan Chargers v Chennai Super Kings - IPL 5 - 1st innings report
Chennai Super Kings 193/6 (20/20 ov) - Deccan Chargers won the toss
On Saturday, April 07, 2012, cricket fans at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam gathered to cheer their team Deccan Chargers, who were playing their first game in the current season of the Indian Premier League.
The side had the honours of hosting defending champions Chennai Super Kings, who did not have a great start to their IPL campaign this year after losing their opening match to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians by eight wickets.
Hoping to change their fortunes, Chennai aimed to humiliate Chargers in their own backyard, a feat which was easier said than done as the Chargers have been a formidable side ever sine the inception of the IPL.
After winning the toss, the hosts chose to field first as they wanted to rattle the batting side and leave them hanging on a low total.
Deccan Chargers made early inroads as they grabbed their first wicket with only two runs on the board.
However, after the demise of Chennai’s opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Faf-du-Plessis-c1427 countered the bowling offensive, preventing the hosts from making any further inroads.
The two batsmen took the score to 42 before Raina lost his wicket in the sixth over after moulding an innings of 16 runs off 12 deliveries.
It was then time for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Subramaniam-Badrinath-c91587 to dawn on the crease but with 63 runs on the board the side suffered the loss of another wicket when du Plessis departed after scoring an impressive innings of 39 runs.
Badrinath and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RA-Jadeja-c2238 then drove their team to 94 runs after which Badrinath lost his wicket on a tally of 25.
Skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, was the next to lose his wicket as he walked back to the pavilion after scoring an innings of seven runs off nine deliveries. At the time of his demise, Chennai had amassed 120 runs on the board.
Meanwhile, in order to prevent Chennai from collapsing on a small total, Jadeja smashed an innings of 48 runs, followed by the resounding knock of 43 runs in the death overs by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379, who stayed not out to help his side amass 193 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets.
