Batting first, the Chargers mustered a total of 175 in the allotted overs, but they were in for a rude awakening as the competitive total was overhauled single handedly by one of the most feared batsman in modern cricket.
Sehwag’s inning of 119 was compiled off 56 balls in all, including 6 sixes and 13 fours. The Delhi captain was in impeccable form, making short work of a reasonable target, away from home.
Sehwag was stamped all over the Delhi inning with the next best score being 17. He truly played a captain’s knock, setting an example for his men.
The Delhi team was content giving strike to their captain whose blitz of an innings overshadowed everything else in the match.
Sehwag was the fifth http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 batsman to fall but he had done the damage by then. Delhi’s total was 153 at the time with their work, almost done.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JP-Duminy-c1742 and Kumar Sangakkara scored well for the Chargers. Duminy was the highest scorer for Deccan with 55 off 31 balls. Sangakkara, the skipper contributed another 44 off 36 balls.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajit-Agarkar-c972 claimed two wickets with the ball for Delhi.
The total of 175 was by no means an easy one for Delhi, yet Sehwag was the difference between the two teams.
The man of the match award went to Sehwag, whose innings would be remembered for long by all who witnessed it.
