Deccan Chargers v Pune Warriors – 2nd Innings Report - Part 2
Needing 64 runs from 11 overs at a comfortable required run rate of 5.81 runs per over, the Pune Warriors were in control of the match. Manish Pandey was unbeaten on 36 runs, as Deccan Chargers’ players and fans were both growing increasingly anxious. Almost
out of desperation, the Deccan Chargers’ skipper, Kumar Sangakkara, reintroduced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566 into the bowling attack in the hope that the bowler would take that crucial wicket his side so desperately needed.
Ganguly and Pandey did little to ease the opposition side’s nerves as they made sure they hit at least one boundary in the next few overs as they began tightening the screws. Yet, it was to be a cruel ending for Manish Pandey who fell just one run short
of, what would have been a brilliantly put together, half-century when Mishra had him trapped leg before wicket in the 12th over.
It could have been the turning point the Deccan Chargers had been searching for so desperately and things got even better for the bowling side when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robin-Uthappa-c2356 made his way back to the pavilion just five deliveries later. The Pune Warriors’ batsman got
a knick on Daniel Christian’s short pitched delivery and skipper, Kumar Sangakkara, made no mistake with the catch dismissing the batsmen for just one run.
The momentum was on the Deccan side for the first time in the match, yet they still had to contend with the imposing figure of the Pune Warriors captain, Yuvraj Singh. It was Ganguly; however, who went on the aggressive as he sent Mishra’s loose delivery
over the boundary ropes for a massive six, before he proceeded to hammer away another two boundaries before the Deccan Chargers struck again.
Christian took his second wicket of the match when he sent Yuvraj Singh packing for two runs after a peach of a delivery broke through the batsman’s defences and crashed into the wickets, sending the bails flying. Sadly, it was a case of too little too late
as the Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CJ-Ferguson-c1264 added to the bowling side’s misery when he punished Christian with three successive boundaries to put the match beyond any doubt.
Ganguly finished the match on an unbeaten 32 runs as Ferguson ended the match by taking a clever single to give the Pune Warriors team and its fans a reason to smile with a victory. The loss left http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 disappointed over his side’s performance
in every department.
