Deccan breaks home jinx as Bangalore suffer defeat in Indian Premier League 2011, match report for immediate release
DC 175/5 20 overs RCB 142/9 20 overs
Deccan Chargers finally broke their four year old jinx of not winning a single match at their home venue in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by a convincing margin of 33 runs in the 11th game of Indian Premier League 2011.
It was a fine all-round performance by the Chargers led by a dazzling 61 by Bharat Chipli which was followed by top class bowling effort by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manpreet-Gony-c1891 who both claimed 3 wickets each to take their team to a win.
Batting first the Chargers made good use of the conditions to post a big target for their opponents; Chipli’s knock was the cornerstone of the effort. The right hander struck three sixes and five fours to propel his team past the 170 runs mark.
He was given good support by Sunny Sohal and skipper Kumar Sangakkara, with the scores of 38 and 36 runs respectively.
Zaheer Khan dazzled with the ball once more; the left armer claimed 3 wickets in his 4 overs spell.
The reply by the Challengers was a poor one, by the time the score reached 56 runs half the side had returned to the pavilion. The decision by the Challengers captain Daniel Vettori to send Zaheer Khan at the number three spot backfired as he was sent packing
for a duck by Steyn.
The biggest blow was the loss of the main stay, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887, who was out for a duck to Gony.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virat-Kohli-c95424 fought hard, smashing three sixes in his 71, but it proved to be too little too late as the rest of the batting crumbled.
Steyn who returned match figures of 3/24 was named man of the match; the Chargers were surely relived after getting the home monkey off their back.
