I'm looking for something that will be used in dark rooms only, so I don't think I need 2000 lumens... Something good for about $500? I would be using curtains during the day time.

  1. You can get plenty of decent 480p pj's for $500 and a decent 720p for $800.  I just spent $700 on an awesome Optoma HD70 720p and the pic is outstanding!  Also, anything 1500 Lumen should be fine in a dark room, even with enough light to read by.

Try here for some decent deals.  www.tigerdirect.com

  2. that is going to be hard to do. For that price you will not get anything new or something that would be appropriate for watching movies.  I would suggest looking on craigs list for a used one or possible a referbished projector.  Keep in mind having a projector has some hidden costs.  After about 3000 hours of viewing you will need to purhase a new bulb which runs anywhere from $200 to $500.  A good place to look to get ideas and prices would be projectorpeople.com, they are a good source for info and actually buing a projector.  Hope this helps.

  3. Here's the very best deal in town.  Check it out at amazon.com - or

And here's an actual 96" diagonal movie image [A Good woman].
