Okay, I am looking for a new car and have narrowed it down to two. A 2002 Ford Focus and a 2004 Hyundai Accent. Here's the pros and cons and details of each:

2002 Ford Focus 72,458 miles, asking price $6,999:

Every car I look at I go to Edmunds.com and look at the cunsumer reviews. 244 people reviewed the 2002 ford focus and it's overall consumer rating was an 8.0, which is actually really good for having that many reviews. The gas milage is 28city/36 highway....GREAT mileage. Plus it comes in yellow, which just happens to be my fav. color. DOWNSIDES - It's a FORD (Found On Road Dead, Factory Ordered Road Disaster, Fix Or Repair Daily...you get the hint) And although I've never OWNED a ford before I've known many people who have and have not been impressed. Also my best friend who happens to be a mechanic said Fords are their #1 money maker with Chryslers coming in at a close second. Plus there's a little more mileage on it then i'd like, but I only drive about 10,000 miles a year.

2004 Hyundai Accent 69,458 miles asking price $6,999:

Edmunds showed only 31 reviews and a overall rating of 8.3 Milage is 29 city/33 highway. and my mechanic friend said hyundai is very reliable. DOWNSIDE - too few reviews to really get a good idea. Plus the very first review on the list was a 1.3...OUCH! The Accents have very little as far as bells and whistle, no CD player, no Trunk Popper (meaning you have to get out and use the key) , and no A/C. I don't know if I'm willing to spend $7,000 on something that doesn't have Air Conditioning...

Anyway this is where I'm at. I'd appreciate all of your comments or reviews if you own any of these cars...Thanks!

  1. You poor dear. I wouldn't buy either one of these cars. The Ford is not a good deal. At 1000 k it will need mega bucks to keep on the road. The other car, is not made here. Price a starter for a Hyundai. For 7000 you can get a GM small car that is good for 150000 without a lot of repair. Remember though, in your budget you have to put 50 bucks a month in the bank for whatever you buy. I have been doing that for many years and I have always bought used cars and put mega miles on them. I have a Buick centry right now with 26000 k and have spent about 2000 in five years. Look some more

  2. I also wouldnt go for any of them cars, you can get much better makes for that money.

  3. As you said Ford is un-reliable, but if you take good care of it and do not drive like a maniac it should last you. With a review of 8.0 Ford may have got this product right.

If I were you wouldn't buy anything Japanese, as they may have good mileage, price, etc. but they lack in quality a lot of the time.

It's toygh but i think Ford may have this one.

  4. the cars that last are ones like toyota , acura, and honda.

i woudl go with a ford focus over a hyundai. my mom had an accent and it was not a very sturdy car and often needed repairs. i also had a family friend with another hyundai car and it didnt last long either.

toyotas last forever! i had an 82 tercel in 2003 that ran fine (just had some rust) but i crashed it. otherwise it woudl still be going!!

i have driving a ford focus and enjoy the drive. it has a lot more power then the accent which i have also drivin. the focus has a nice look and interior. still i recommend toyota!! (the corolla is the #1 car sold in the world and loses the least amount of value off a lot. i have a 2009 and it is beautiful! i hope to be able to pass it off to my son in 15 years ;) )

  5. Hyundai Accent-Better looking, easier to park, better on gas, more reliable, probably still under warranty.
