Question:

Deciding between S'pore & Melbourne?

I'm living in Melbourne, Australia. I've been here for a year + and I don't really like how it is here, expensive for me at least, I'm an international student. Getting underpaid, everything is far away when you're out in the suburbs, expensive did I say. I've always lived in the city, and I think I would cry for days if I live out of the city. I'm doing a 2-year course, going into my 2nd year. I really hate this place to death. It's lame. I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone but it's just what I think personally.

I come from Kuala Lumpur, I didn't really like the idea of going to S'pore at first, but now I'd do almost anything to leave. Just for that half to one year.

Has anyone been to both of these countries long enough to tell me something about both? Why would you prefer one to another?

  1. I've been to Singapore about 3 or 4 times now and it's great! There is so much to do from a toruist point of view, such as Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Zoological Gardens, Singapore Botanic Gardens, Night Safari...

Boat Quay has many wonderful bars and restaurants which are worth visiting, so eating is not a problem! Another place with great restaurants is Chijmes.

Orchard Road is fantastic for shopping.

Little India is worth visiting. There is a wonderful market there. Chinatown is also great, especially for cheap, tasty food!

The taxis are incredibly reasonable in price. It's a very affordable way to get around, as are the buses.

I can't compare to Melbourne, since I haven't been - but I understand Singapore to be less expensive. Also, in Singapore there will be many tropical showers, which you are unlikely to witness in Melbourne!

    Good luck!
