Question:

Deciding on colors for wedding rings?

My boyfriend and I have talked about marriage, we've been together 5 1/2 years. We've looked at rings online and discussed what we want. I know that they sell ring sets that have engagement ring, womans wedding band and mens band. But also sets with just 2 rings for the woman.

My question is would it look funny or odd if I have white gold rings and my boyfriend (husband) has a yellow gold one. I am not a fan of yellow gold, and he likes it better than any other metal rings typically come in. Is it customary for the rings to atleast be of the same metal?

  1. My husband and i had the same problem. I liked both metals but wanted a white gold ring, but my husband wasnt a fan of white gold. In the end he found a ring that was white gold that he loved. Just look around he might find something he likes in white gold. If not, i think its ok to have 2 different color rings.

  2. Not many couples have matching rings any more. Women tend to follow the fads - which is currently white gold. Men tend to like classic yellow gold.

So, no, it doesn't look funny if they are different.

  3. Who cares if they match?

We thought about the same thing as well, I like yellow gold, he does not like it so much, but we thought who cares?

To me, as long as he wears a ring I'm happy.

For some reason I can't directly link you to ours, but in case you are interested I'll give you the info.

    both from http://www.benmoss.com/

search 413450089004 that is my engagement ring

search 420110109002 that is his wedding band

In my opinion they match well enough anyways (because his is two-tone and mine is yellow gold with white gold claws), but we definitely didn't plan for that.

you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.

  5. I think that will be fine.  I like you, don't like yellow gold.  My set is white gold, and my husbands is yellow gold.  And he nor I think its odd, or looks funny.

  6. These days anything goes!  Does it really matter what color gold the rings are?  I have read in bridal magazines that a new trend is to have different metals for his and her rings!  Go for it!  Have different metals and both be happy with your decision!!!

  7.   whoever is wearing it should be comfortable wearing it.  i dont like yellow gold but my fiances ring will have yellow gold, and the rest of the ring is titanium...he's the one wearing it so it should be something he likes.

there is no set rule saying they have to match.  yeah, it is sometimes the case where they do, but they dont HAVE to

  8. No, I don't think so. It is a ring(s) you will be wearing for a very long time (please God) so I think it is more important that you both have the rings you actually want.

Let him pick his and you pick yours, that is what we are doing.

    Congratulations!

  9. AS long as you love your rings and each other, that's all that matters.

  10. No, it doesn't make a difference what color gold that the wedding rings are, unless it's a big deal to you. My fiance and I couldn't decide what color gold to get either. I don't like mixing white and yellow gold when I wear my jewelry, so I was worried about getting a white gold ring and wanting to wear other yellow gold rings or vice versa. This is a ring that (hopefully) you'll be wearing for the rest of your life. We have decided to get rings that have both white and yellow gold. Mine is a two-piece modern version of the claddagh ring, and his will also be a claddagh ring only we haven't found one that he likes yet...we have a while though, as the wedding is 20 months away :O)

  11. Well your rings will be of the same metal, just different colours.

It was not always tradition for men to have wedding rings anyway, I think the idea came in during the second world war because the men going to fight wanted something to cling to for memories of their wives.

So dont worry about them being different at all, I dont see what the problem is you have a perfectly good reason for the difference in colour.

Good luck and have what you want.

  12. The rings don't have to match, and it will not stand out or look wrong. You can look up the history and significance of wedding rings at Wikipedia and see that the tradition of giving rings is ever-changing. So do whatever makes you both happy. After all, you have to be happy with the piece of jewelry that you will be wearing all the time, and so will he.

You can always get inscriptions with names, dates, initials, phrases, or whatever to show the symbolism of the day and persons to whom your hearts belong.

For pictures, as it is not uncommon to see photos of the hands intertwined in the wedding album, you could always go black and white if the contrast of white and yellow stands out too much. The photographer could even do this after the color picture has already been taken, if you so desire. Otherwise, it's highly unlikely anyone will want to see your rings side by side.
