Question:

Decidual Bleeding?

My DH and I have been TTC for 3 months. We have an 8 month old son who we concieved on the first month trying and got a positive test 6 days before my period was due. This is relevant because I was wondering if having a baby so quickly could have my hormones out of whack? I have a very very regular 29 day cycle. I was due to start AF today. I started 3 days ago and bleed for 2 days and now have light spotting. I have never started early. My cycle was 29 days before my son and this is my fourth cycle since having him and prior to this one all have been 29 days. The bleeding was medium flow and a bright red (no brown). I have taken several tests and all have been negative, most recently this morning. I have read that some times decidual bleeding will produce a negative test. I do not think it was implantation bleeding because of the flow. I do not want to go to the doctor just yet. I'm looking for opinions.

  1. Decidual bleeding doesn't cause you to have a negative test. You didn't mention any dates about your cycle, but it's possible that you're just testing too soon or that you had an irregular cycle this time.

You really shouldn't be TTC so soon after having a baby. You should wait at least 2 years before becoming pregnant again. Not doing so can cause infant and child death, low birth weight, premature birth, and more. Please think of the health of your (hopefully) future unborn child!

  2. First of all what a precious baby in the photo, I really love that pouty face!!!!

Good luck with trying to conceive.  I know with my second, it took a bit longer as I too tried pretty soon after giving birth to my first.  It takes longer because your body is still recovering up to 18 months after giving birth.  Some people do better some people take longer.  It just depends.

    Good Luck

  3. I assume you are using a home urine pregancy test, right?  Those tests are most definitely affected by the presence of larger amounts of protein and/or hemoglobin (a blood component).

To rule out pregnancy, you may need to have a blood test done.   Also, if you do urine tests again, make sure that you use the first morning (most concentrated specimen).

How long, ahead of now, has it been since you had unprotected or questionably protected (now THERE is a cool label, isn't it - I should copyright that) s*x?
