Pakistan’s current one-day captain Misbah-ul-Haq in an interview has said that he is not aware for how long he has been appointed as the skipper of the national team and in any case he feels no problem in leading the side in the shorter version of the game.
Talking to newsmen, the 37-yearl old middle-order batsman said, “The decision on who captains the One-day side in future is the PCB’s of course. They asked me to lead the team in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 and I was happy to do that. I’m not desperate to be the One-day captain,
but if the Board wishes me to skipper the day side, then I will do so.”
There are mixed information regarding the future of the One Day International captaincy in Pakistan, where some have predicted Misbah’s stint for not more than six months. Rumours suggest that opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 is being looked at as the next
one-day skipper by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials.
Misbah pointed out the fact that he has always been willing to play for Pakistan, irrespective of his place in the team as the captain. “I’ve always made my intentions and priorities very clear and that is to play well for Pakistan, irrespective of whether
I am captain or not. If someone else is the captain, then that is not an issue for me. I will play under anyone as skipper and am not anxious to lead the team,” he reiterated.
Pakistan under their new captain crushed Ireland by seven wickets in the first one-day international of a two-match series. This was a comfortable victory as the tourists restricted the hosts to a meagre total of 96 runs in a rain hit contest.
The victory was a positive sign for the PCB chairman as well, who has been a staunch supporter of placing Misbah as the one-day captain.
