Decision on Grands Crus’ Cheltenham target to be made on Monday
With Cheltenham Festival standing round the corner, Grands Crus’ connections are making their final plans for the big event. The seven-year-old holds entries both for the RSA Chase and Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase.
Grands Crus’ fans are anxiously waiting for the decision, but the connections are not ready to make any move in hurry. The trainer, David Pipe, said that the final decision about Grands Crus’ participation in the festival will be made on Monday, March 12,
2012. He described that the news will be broken before Monday noon.
Pipe tweeted on Sunday:
"After decs tomorrow I will speak to the owners and a decision will be made before twelve. Of course he has a big chance in the Gold Cup. There are rules about keeping novices in novice company but then there are some that break the rules."
David Pipe’s trainee is in great form at the moment. He completed his hat-trick over Christmas last year, sealing an emphatic victory in the williamhill.com Feltham Novices' Chase at Kempton.
With three back to back wins under his belt, the veteran sprinter is one of the most preferred geldings in the festival.
On the other hand, Boston Bob’s odds for the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle saw a drift, when trainer, Willie Mullins, confirmed seven-year-old’s participation in the 3-mile event on Friday. The bay gelding is currently 6-4 favourite with most of the bookmakers.
"Boston Bob will probably run in the Albert Bartlett while Midnight Game, Simenon and Allure Of Allusion will run in the Supreme on the Tuesday. In the Neptune on Wednesday Make Your Mark, Sous Les Cieux and possibly Felix Younger will run," Mullins said.
Mullins was top trainer at last year’s Cheltenham Festival. With many talented runners under his command, the great handler is all set to display a fine show this year.
The extravaganza is scheduled to commence on Tuesday. The conditions at Cheltenham are good, as the clerk of the course, Simon Claisse, showed satisfaction at status of the track after completing final cycle of watering on Sunday.
The clerk also shared that since the forecast is dry and warm for next couple of days, the new course might need some watering on Wednesday.
