I've just had some decking put into the garden and was wondering what is the best way of protecting the wood? I guess I could use the standard deck stain, but is there a better product I could use? Any tips greatly appreciated!

  1. Ronseal 5 year wood stain... It does exactly what it says on the tin

  2. I like the natural look of wood so I used a product called Waterseal. I think the brand was Thompson - comes in a large square can. Anyway, lLike the name imples it seals the wood so water does not penetrate, but does not add colour to the wood. I re-do it every couple of years. Worked great for me...

  3. If it's hardwood, use teak oil

  4. Dura-stain is the best.  Stay away from Thompson.

Let your deck breath and dryout for about 3 mounths before placing sealer, paint or other stuff on it.
