Declan Potts occupies Men’s 400m freestyle gold: Day three - Oceania Swimming Championships
Declan Potts of Australia occupied gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on day three of the 2012 Oceania Swimming Championships in Noumea, New Caledonia on Thursday, May 31.
Potts remained prominent for gold spot from the start of the race and with his unrelenting efforts, he captured gold medal of the discipline.
He stayed considerably ahead of his competitors from the start and tapped the finishing blockade for gold medal with the timing of 3 minutes and 55.23 seconds.
The champion was trailed by his teammate, Trent Grimsey, who finished his swim in second best place by producing a time of 4 minutes and 01.68 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Isaac Foote of New Zealand, who tried hard to overpower his foregoing finisher but remained just 0.01 seconds away and snared bronze medal of the discipline by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 01.69 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Troy Balvert of New Zealand, who suffered a deficit of nearly seven seconds and surfaced on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 08.80 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth best spot of the discipline was secured by Jacob Urbano of Hawaii, who stayed 1.19 seconds slower and hit the finishing end with an effort of 4 minutes and 09.99 seconds.
Similarly, Urbano was followed by his compatriot, Kale Ai, who was nearly two body lengths apart and finished his race in a time of 4 minutes and 11.84 seconds for sixth position.
Subsequently, Ai enjoyed an advantage of Leo Cherriffa of France, who remained almost three seconds slower from his former finisher and proved his eligibility for seventh position of the event by posting a time of 4 minutes and 14.87 seconds.
Last spot of the 400m event was obtained by Emmanuel Limozin, who remained nearly half a second slower from his preceding finisher and touched the wall for eighth position with the timing of 4 minutes and 15.44 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received awards and accolades for their notable efforts after the session.
