  1. They ultimately blamed the king, because he had the final decision as to how the colonies would be governed. Even though Parliament made the laws, the king had to approve them. And, since the king almost always agreed with his Prime Minister, he got the blame.

This is not unlike today's President. Although every federal law has to be passed by Congress, the President has the ability to veto it if he so desires. So if a law gets passed that the public doesn't like, the President gets blamed because he let it pass.

The men who drafted and passed the Declaration of Independence knew that all of the policies that affected the colonies had come from Parliament, but they still addressed their grievances to the king.

  2. Don't complicate things, please.  Who is specifically blamed in the Declaration?  There's a long list of charges.  Can't miss it.  There's your answer.

  3. The King..

  4. Wow, is it really easier to ask than to READ the document?  Why trust the answers when you can QUICKLY find out for yourself by READING IT!

  5. Yes, they were angry at the King.

  6. B! France was considered an ally of the colonies and an enemy of Britain. Parliament is not mentioned as an aggressor. You will see the list of things the king did to the colonists... its quite extensive/
