so we have a psych class at my highschool but the last 2 teachers have been fired and theres a new one this year, my senior year, but its a really new class and i dont want to waste my time in it if it is bad again. i have studied psychology on my own though and am very interested in it.

question: would it be a bad idea to declare a major that you haven't taken a class in ie psychology?

thanks

  1. You declare majors in High School? As far as college majors you don't need to have taken any class in it as long as it's something that interests you.

  2. Not enough information.  You're in college?  Here's my suggestion:

    1) Spend 1 whole day at a coffee shop and read a Psych 101 textbook from cover to cover

    2) Ask yourself what job you are interested in the field of psych (AND DON'T SAY "A PSYCHOLOGIST").  Consider: organizational psychologist or human resources management, special needs, or a specialty, such as eating disorders or human sexuality

    3) If you can get through the book in part (1) and can answer part (2), then  you should declare the major
