Okay, I'm decorating my brothers room. He told me that he wants his bedspread to be just brown and then get navy blue and olive green pillows. Then, he wants a poster of a skateboarder in black and white above his bed.

WHERE CAN I GET THESE BUT NOT PBTEEN PLEASE?!?!

Then, he told me to do the rest. What else would look good in there that goes along with his colors (blue brwon green)?? Also, he already has nightstands, dressers and a desk. So his furniture is brown.

but rugs, curtains, accesories, chairs?!?! what colors?!?! please I want him to like it alot..

  1. A lot of times, what a person asks for and what they really want are two different things.

For instance, if your brother is attracted to that color scheme, he may translate it too literally into what he thinks he wants in his room.  "I like brown, blue, and green, so give me a brown bedspread with blue and green throw pillows."  That may make for a lackluster look, especially if he wants black and white wall art.  (Not that black and white wall art isn't great, but it doesn't bring anything to the table, in this case).  What you can do is translate his color preferences into a better balanced overall color/design plan.

Paint the walls a soft chocolate brown.  (Don't worry about the furniture being brown).  That will provide a striking background on which to display black and white wall art.  For the bed, I'd do a tan bedspread (so it 'speaks' to the walls) then add the blue and green throw pillows.  You'll 'see' more of the blue and green on a lighter background bedspread vs. a brown one.

Another thing to consider: using patterns.  Maybe you can find throw pillows that have all 3 colors in them.  If so, you could use them in place of or in addition to the solid-colored pillows.  Perhaps you'll even find a bedspread with a tone-on-tone pattern.

The only other thing I'd add is: pay attention to lighting in the room, especially if you do decide to paint the walls a dark color.  The room should have a warm, cozy feeling, and proper lighting can make that happen.

I found a lot of reasonable bedding pieces on WalMart's website, but hunt around.

  2. you could do the walls a nice sage color that would complement the olive really well. maybe a nice striped rug with some red or orange accents.  I know you said no PB teen, but you could look on there for ideas and then go to maybe target or ikea to buy the stuff. hope this helps.

  4. www.RockYourWall.com has a lot of cool room accessories like PBTeen for way less money. Colored magnetic dry erase tiles, cork tiles and so much more.

Try brown dry erase tiles, navy blue dry erase tiles, green and galvalized steel dry erase tiles for a very cool and functional style tile bulletin board!

  5. Well, first of all let me say Dont panic. I think a great color for the walls would be a light redish brownish. The curtains could be like light green, the chairs could be wooden and white. And, you could also add like a little lamp that has like a surfboard or something on it. Also, you may also want to buy like a little desk for a computer or for homework.

    I really hope i helped.

    Good luck!
