Decorating with NO knowledge?!! HELP 10 points!!?

Question

So my brother is moving out of the attic room of our house. (It's really big and is like 2 rooms). So I'll be moving up there soon. I'm 20 years old. He left a cheetah print area rug in there, (on the bed, table side of the room) and I really like it. But now, what color should my bed linens be? What about curtains? The room wall is painted beige-ish. I want to paint just the borders, what color should i go for? By borders, I mean the edges of the triangle part of an attic. The edge of the borders go through the entire room so it makes it in to one instead of two different rooms.

I would do chocolate brown or espresso for the trim. For the bed linens keep the bedspread/duvet neutral like cream or tan, but do fuschia or red sheets and pillows. Keep everything else neutral.

Maybe do bamboo or grasscloth blinds on the windows

blue or pink would go best with cheetah print (or orange, but that would be really overwhelming.

I would paint the trim dark brown to continue with the cheetah colors.  Buy a light beige comforter and sheets and then use chocolate brown and deep red throw pillows.  As far as art goes, I would definitely stay away from any animal print, and use modern art with both dark and light colors such as this one: http://frontide.com/images/products/Mode...  

Make sure there is red in the art so it will brighten everything up and give it some style.

I think using black would start to look kind of trashy and maybe the cheetah print rug wouldn't look as kitchy. I would suggest going with the accent color being pink which looks great with animal prints. I think getting as much white in there as possible would also look great. My suggestion is to not have the cheetah print rug be the inspiration - let it be a fun accent to another style. I think a modern/white would look nice.Throw a little pink in there and the cheetah rug would look hip.

you should get white bedding with black, red or cheetah print accent pillows. the borders can also be black and/or red. i think you should get brown suede (or fake suede) curtains, and for paintings, maybe you should go with like a jungle theme or something, but paintings are very expressive so pretty much anything except hello kitty will do. Also, i know you didnt ask about accessories but, you said the room was big so the room would really come together it you got nice healthy green plant with big leaves and a deep brown leather wing chair, love seat or even couch

Go to the paint store and look at borders and wallpapers to give you an idea of a color palette you'd like. Don't wed yourself to that cheetah rug unless you really like it. Go to Flor.com to check out some other rug patterns and textures. They come in 18" squares that you can mix 'n match. It's really fun. Got to Domestications.com, or Brylane Home to see some bedding and curtains you might like. Target and Wal Mart have nice curtains too. Look for some with a texture and pattern. Paisley, geometrics, or florals. And don't forget artwork. Go to allposters.com or art.com for something for the walls. Also consider putting up a few floating shelves for photos and memorabilia.

who said it had to match? you could make it crazy or calming if your looking for something unique go for colors that make you feel good, red isn't always the best color because it is supposed to be an angry color

otherwise with cheetah print a good color would be like tan or beige curtains and stuff but if you find the right orange you can do like a spongy kind of look and it would look really energetic.
