Question:

Decorations and such for locker. Is this too much?

So my wife took our twins out shopping for things to make their lockers nice and pretty (i.e. clips, white boards, magnets, etc.). Our twins are going into 6th grade and are getting half-sized lockers. They are one boy, one girl.

When they came back home, my son had only 8 things exactly. 5 magnets, a white board, a pencil holder, and magnet type thing. BUT... my daughter had over 20 pieces including (and just to name a few!) like 11 magnets, two shelves, pencil holders, numerous magnetic sharpeners, and plenty of other things.

I told my wife that this was way too much and that my son should have more. Her reply was, "he didn't want anything, just the average. But Mia was like in locker heaven and wanted everything, so as being my oldest girl, I bought it all for her.

Don't you think, America and UK and everywhere else, that this was way to much for my daughter. I don't even think this is all going to fit in her locker.... She should cut down a bit and she said, "NO WAY!!! I LOVE THIS!"

What do you think, too much or average for a tween girl.

  1. BOYS just like to shop like girls do, and boys dont like all the same things as girls, if your son wanted more that would be different, but he didnt...next time maybe you should take them shopping....

  2. I'm an 18 year old only girl and I can tell you that she wont use half of that stuff. She is just like me, I get really excited (as I am right now for college) and I buy everything I can milk my parents fore because I get so caught up I'm no longer practical. I never end up using all the stuff and have to pretend so my parents think I do. Don't let her start doing this because it only gets worse! Think about high school and college! The boy is totally normal he is like my brother and boyfriend. They don't really get excited for shopping and aren't into the colors and gizmos that rope us girls in. I would say set a limit for the girl maybe like 3 extra things and save money where you can with the boy because your daughter will spend the excess!

  3. If I were you, I would let try it all out in her locker. Personally, I think it would be much better and a lot calmer if you let her try to cram it all in, only to find out it doesn't fit herself, rather than you not letting her try it at all. I think that sometimes people need to learn from experience, and not just from someone else. This small lesson learned could develop into deeper maturity for her later. That's what I think.
