Decoy expected to win GW of St Clears Handicap Hurdle
Decoy has the best chances for winning the GW of St Clears Handicap Hurdle at Ffos Las in England on Thursday, March 29, 2012. A cash prize of £4,549 has been set for the race winning horse.
The class-3 event had initially attracted 13 runners, but Secret Dancer will not be seen in action due to an injury. He is a seasoned runner and was expected to do well in the race today. However, his trainer, Alan Jones, will be disappointed
with the setback.
Due to this, 12 runners will now be seen in action over the 2 mile 4 furlong race, scheduled to start at 4:30 GMT, and their names are: Decoy, Persian Snow, Lava Lamp, Tickatack, Mountainous, Glenstal Abbey, Pure Faith, Taffy Thomas, Rio Gael, Supreme
De Paille, Hills Of Aran and William Hogarth.
Out of the above mentioned runners, Decoy seems to be in extremely good rhythm, as he has been in decent form. He does not have much experience, but the bookies believe in his abilities.
The six-year-old gelding has taken part in 11 races over hurdles until now, winning two of them. His strike rate is not much impressive, but he has also secured a couple of runner up positions, which indicates that he has the potential to fight for
top positions.
Things are looking quite good for Decoy, who is in decent form at the moment. The punters will be placing quite a few bets in his favour today. He will be partnered by Tom Scudamore, who has got a pretty good record at this level. The seasoned jockey
has won 163 hurdles until now and has got a decent strike rate.
On the other hand, Mountainous has been rated pretty highly by the bookmakers, despite the fact that he has only taken part in fives hurdles until now. He has been impressive in such events, winning a couple of them. Other than that, he
also managed to secure a runner up and third place finish each, which means there was only one occasion, where he failed to make it to the top three.
The seven-year-old gelding will need a clear run in order to challenge his rivals at Ffos Las today. He will be ridden by seasoned jockey, Sam Twiston-Davies, who has earned quite a few victories at this level and has an impressive strike rate. He
will be looking to add another victory to his tally.
The real battle will be amongst the top two favourites, as the rest of the pack does not seem to be in good rhythm.
