Dedicated Game Server Operating System?

Question

I am looking at building a server for my clan. The part that is really causing me trouble is the operating system. When I look at Microsoft Windows Server Standard 2003 R2 with SP2 the price varies greatly with the CALs. Should I get a different version or get a different operating system?

You should check out CentOS a linux os that will meet your needs
