finally, life may boil down to a lottery game. there are many unknowns and also factors that do not depend on our deeds so that certain things may go the way we not only want, but try to make happen in a certain way. hazard plays a good part in life. things that do not depend on our will or our deeds.

This is a thorough mix up of the Past, Present and the  Future.

Fate always relates to a future. That which we donot know   we call it fate.

Luck, on the other hand , refers to the past. We say"he was unlucky" "he didnot have luck " etc.  A postmortem of sorts .

Deed is current . It is done in the present. Deed , an action , is done with a certain expectation . If the expectation is fulfilled nobody talks about it. If it does not happen the way it was expected to, either luck or fate is called in to describe it.

Fate is the force that puts us in a certain place at a certain time. Its our choice what to do once we're there (free will).... Destiny is the final DESTINation.

Luck I define as Karma....we have both bad and good karma (luck) because its a balance in life. The Universe is all about balance: good and evil, pain and pleasure, happiness and sorrow. Without one we couldn't define the other.

okay..am just thinking aloud here for the sake of discussion.....

i guess sometimes even when deeds were bad and consequence was bad in a given situation... but one day things turned around and everything was just as it was supposed to be... what would u call that?

or when someone was well prepared for an exam but did poorly (the very sections they skipped were the sections the questions were asked from), or someone who barely studied and still passed it? (have experienced both situations)

and what about..... (suppose i and another person i was going to click great with were being observed from the top) missing meeting that person by a franction of a minute. maybe i passed by the love of my life becoz i was one minute late or becoz i did not turn and notice who was behind me. luck?

i don't know...am still thinking.

i think our deeds determine our fate to a large extent and yet....there is something..that's totally not in our control as well.

Because what we call "luck" is an epiphenomenon of our deeds and both of them are more of an illusion by nature.

   Being fortunate is a science and art in itself and all you need to learn it is a "Balance" struck with in yourself. Its a soup - what we know as perceptive reality.

   We created time for our own identity's sake i.e time lives, we live - time exists, we exist - time exits, we exit.
