This morning, there was a small kitten in our garage. On its back right leg, there is a deep gash all the way to the bone. Since its a kitten we dont know if alcohol is too strong. Whats the best way to clear up any infections and heal the wound without having to go to the vet? Please and thank you!

  1. It's not your responsibility so when you do take it to the vet say it was a stray and it is in need of severe medical attention. They'll have to take it. I think....

  2. aww take the poor baby to the vet :[

  3. Dilute some Iodine with water, but, since it's a kitten I'd take it to the vet, just to be sure.

  4. Don't put alcohol on the gash, Put Hydrogen Peroxide on the gash, it will hurt a bit but not as much as direct alcohol would. once there isn't anymore foaming on the leg, get a cloth, wrap it around the kittens thy bone/shoulder to stop the bleeding. Get another cloth, and wrap it around the gash several times. there could be an infection if you don't act quickly, i think there could be. You will have to take the kitten to a vet if the kitten is still in pain, if the wound is still bleeding, and if it starts to change a color like green or a faint yellow. Your Welcome

  5. If it was a full grown cat, you still shouldn't put alcohol on it because you don't know if it could kill it by the alcohol getting into its bloodstream.

just try and take it to the vet's or give it to an animal shelter and they will take care of it.

  6. none, take the kitten to the vet, it will need stitches.

  7. Do not put alcohol on that wound - ouch!  If this laceration goes all the way to the bone then this cat needs to see a vet as it's going to need a full clean up, possibly any dead tissue cutting away and stitches.  It's very likely to get infected and so will also need antibiotics and, most definitely, PAIN RELIEF!

There's no way around it, this cat must must must go to the vet.
