Deepthi Ramesh ousts Shabana Begam in 2012 Sub Junior National Badminton Championship

India’s young but talented female shuttler Deepthi Ramesh registered her presence in the 26th Sub Junior National Badminton Championship after beating Shabana Begam Dudekula in the qualifying round on December 2, 2012.
This encounter was a part of the Girl’s Singles draw and it kept both contenders head-to-head for 24 minutes in the local badminton complex of Patna.
Both compatriot shuttlers put all in their possession to gain access to the fourth stage of qualifying round but Deepthi locked the honour with an impressive result of 21-14 and 21-19.
The victorious player ruled the court in both segments of the showdown and alarmed her next challenger, Vaidehi Choudhari by sealing a straight-set victory.
Deepthi, who has been placed at the 16th spot in tournament ranking, tipped the scale in her favour immediately in the beginning of first set and enjoyed a commanding position until last shot was played.
In the opening game, she launched an intensive attack and bagged many valuable points without any interruption.
Shabana could not withstand this invasion and stayed at the lower end in most part of this game. She let many vital points slip from her hands and allowed the opposing shuttler to establish an unassailable lead.
Meanwhile, Deepthi did not squander this opportunity and strengthened her grip by registering a decent figure of 11.
She played with similar precision in later part of the game and bagged first match point with a huge difference in concluding margin. Deepthi maintained a significant lead of seven points and swept the table with 21-14 total.
The second set was not a dead contest as the suppressed shuttler of previous game showed commendable fighting spirit and gave a strong statement about her potential.
This time Shabana looked in prime touch as she established a notable lead in no time and maintained a respectable difference on the points table.
However, lack of good finishing skills proved the biggest hurdle in her way to success. She blundered at a crucial stage and crashed out in a woeful manner.
On the other hand, Deepthi struck hard when it mattered and registered a straight-set win with 21-19 score.
