First thanks for all the help I am getting in this section.

I ended up with Deer Park as the most suitable in terms of distance and neighbourhood, but I want to expand my search to surrounding areas as well.

So please give your opinion on the following areas:

Deer Park (which part is the new , which is old?)

Cairnlea

Albanvale

Ardeer

Albion

St Albans

Kings Park

Sunshine North &

Sunshine

Or anything else nearby you think is better

Thanks in Advance :)

  1. Yep, Deer Park really is that bad.

My mum used to teach at the high school there...

kids used to bring guns / knives etc there.

not a very nice place to live.

Basically in those further out suburbs of Melbourne aka the ones you have mentioned, because they are cheaper places to live, you will find a larger number of not-quite-so-polite-and-friendly people aka bogans.

Although there are those developments at Caroline Springs which is quite close by... I'm not sure how they are but they have some good sized houses for not a lot.

Sorry if this wasn't very helpful!

  2. I'm guessing you want to be near  Uni, college or work? If you need to live in the western suburbs of Melbourne, try Newport, Spotswood, Yarraville or Williamstown. They are very handy for the city (about 20 mins train ride), and have better public transport, not so bleak as some of the places you mention.

  3. You certainly havent picked the nicest suburbs in Melbourne. They are all about the same.  lets just say I wouldnt live there.

You could have done a bit better.  Why those suburbs?
