Deer antlers?

so me and my mom were sorta up close to a dear...or buck rather...and thought they were like fuzzy...

are buck antlers fuzzy or were we just seeing things?

  1. Deer do not have "fuzzy" antlers; only moose do---and they wear it off by rubbing on trees.


  2. You were not just seeing things.  The deer were in velvet.  The antlers will harden for the rut.

  3. When growing the antlers are "fuzzy" it is caused velvet.  The velvet serves the purpose of feeding the antlers as they grow.  Deer loose and regrow their antlers every year.  The antlers are made from bone and are the fastest growing bone in nature.

  4. It's velevet and they grow it every year. When you see them rubbing up against a tree they are shedding it.
