The midfield maestro has taken out time to express that the current Spanish champions cannot afford to be beaten by Real Madrid in Saturday’s El Clasico.
The Spanish international has made an attempt to rally his teammates and has insisted that his side cannot lose the match against Jose Mourinho’s men.
He emphasized that the Spanish La Liga title still hangs in balance and Saturday’s fixture is most likely to decide who wins the chase to the title.
La Blaugrana are set to face their traditional arch rivals, Real Madrid, at the Nou Camp on Saturday and it may prove to be the most important game in the season for the two Spanish giants.
Xavi insisted that the final result of the game will be paramount in determining who will be crowned this year’s champion.
The World Cup winner added that his side are desperate to reclaim the title they have held for the last three years.
Both sides have been brilliant throughout the course of this season’s Liga BBVA campaign; however, it is Los Blancos who have come out at the top of the table as they are currently four points ahead of Barca in the league.
Interestingly, this lead stood at 10 points earlier this season. As confident as Los Merengues were initially, they have only seen their lead drop to four points.
Xavi has exclaimed that his side must make use of the situation and complete the comeback by taking over their foes in the table. He remarked that winning the Clasico can help them do just that.
The midfielder then went on to discuss that his side’s philosophy will remain the same and that the Catalans will do their best to attack the visitors.
While addressing reporters, the 32-year-old quoted:
“They are three important points because they are against a direct rival. Defeat is not an option for us.”
“We try not to change our philosophy, Madrid have played in various ways but we have not changed our style. We want the ball, we want to be in charge of the game and have those long spells of possession which help us control a game. We cannot change now.”
Can http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 continue their dominance over Spanish football and pave their way to a fourth La Liga title in four years? We can only wait and find out.
