Defeat to Denver Broncos makes Baltimore Ravens also lose two players to concussions – NFL News
In addition to the loss, the Denver Broncos game proved more costly for the Baltimore Ravens as their pair of players was out on the sideline with concussions, respectively, and there is an uncertainty as far as their availability for the rest of the regular
season is concerned.
First one to go was wide receiver Torrey Smith, who while attempting a sideline catch fell back on his head. He was taken on the sideline immediately and inspected for concussion. He was later shifted to the locker room but it was unknown if he would return
to finish the game.
His injury came into third quarter of the game and later as per an announcement of the team was out of the game with a concussion. Since then, there was no update by any of the team’s officials what will be his future status. Generally, concussion is one
of the most serious injuries amongst all scares and it appears the season might well be over for him.
It is expected that the Ravens might give some sort of information later in the week, especially after the player’s situation is cleared by the team’s midweek practice on Wednesday.
Before hitting the sideline with the head injury Smith could manage only a single catch for 14 yards. His second pass attempt during which he got injured was ruled incomplete.
Meanwhile, running back Bernard Pierce was another Raven who came down on the day with a head injury. He completed 20 rushing yards on five carries before being sidelined with the scare.
His future status was not clarified by the team. Apparently, the scare seems to be as severe as Smith’s and there is a possibility that the season might be over for him too, unless the situation is explained otherwise.
It was third straight loss of the season by the Ravens and that too came at the cost of some of serious injury scares. The team is just held back on the edge of the playoffs. Their all of sudden slump in form is even more bad news as far as the second phase
is concerned.
