Defeating Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel requires James Hunt-like driving skills: Reports
Sebastian Vettel is currently leading the Formula 1 championship quite comfortably with 204 points, 80 points more than his closest rival Mark Webber.
In order to defeat him, his rivals require skills like the former Formula 1 champion James Hunt according to recent reports.
Hunt is a former Formula 1 champion who secured the championship 35 years ago after facing a similar situation as the rivals of Sebastian Vettel are currently facing.
Former formula 1 world champion Niki Lauda was leading the championship back then but he had to sit out of many races after that since he went through a near-fatal accident during the German Grand Prix which took place at the Nurburgring circuit.
As a result, Hunt took the advantage, recovered from this deficit quite surprisingly, and took the championship from Lauda by just one point.
Currently, the current championship leader has four rivals who are actively competing for the championship. Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are divided by less than 20 points from each other but they are way behind the reigning
world champion. These are the same drivers that were competing for the title last year as well and one has to admit that the four of them are still in the hunt for the drivers’ title of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Vettel however claims that he does not enjoy dominance but he does enjoy success.
“No, I only enjoy success when I have it. Ask me again after the last race in Brazil,” said the current championship leader.
Red Bull Racing on the other hand are quite comfortably leading the constructors’ standings and it seems that McLaren are the only competitors who can give them a tough time only if they pull off some miracles.
Since Felipe Massa has not been performing up to the mark, Ferrari are definitely not capable of challenging for the constructors’ titles this year and the constructors’ championship is more of a two-horse race at the moment. Let’s see if that changes in
the upcoming races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
