Chelsea’s midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 believes that the Spanish champions, Barcelona are vulnerable in their defence and believes that the Blues can exploit this weakness.
The Londoner’s will take on Barcelona in the semi-final of the Champions League, with the first leg scheduled to be played at the Stamford Bridge on the 18th of April.
The 26 year old, who scored a goal in the away leg of the quarterfinal against Benfica, acknowledged the might of the Spanish giants. However, he believed that the Blues can take advantage of Barca’s weakness at the back.
“Every team has its weaknesses,” said Kalou. “They have their weaknesses; we know that we can play on that.”
Barcelona are the reigning European champions, after the Spanish side beat Manchester United 3-1 at Wembley, in the final last year.
The Ivorian footballer turned down the idea that Pep Guardiola’s side will simply walk-over the Blues in the semi-final, claiming that the Londoners are more than just capable of beating Barca. He mentioned that his team is really looking forward to silence
all the critics and believed that a win against Barcelona can serve that ambition.
“They can say, ‘Chelsea have no chance against Barcelona’, but we work hard every day in training and we believe that on the pitch is the only way of answering all those negative thoughts.”
Even though Kalou has made tall claims of the weaknesses in the Spanish side’s back four, the facts for this season suggest otherwise.
The Camp Nou side have only conceded 22 goals in their 30 league games this season. Even though they lag behind league leaders, Real Madrid by six points, they have yielded the least number of goals in the La Liga.
Kalou also described http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 as the best player in the world at the moment. He believed that it was mostly because of the diminutive Argentinean player that people were writing off Chelsea. However, he reminded that matches are
won on the pitch and one good day for Chelsea can see them through.
“Because it’s Barcelona, because they have Messi and all those players, people are thinking that we can’t make it. In one game, everything can happen.”
Earlier, Real Madrid’s manager Jose Mourinho, who had also coached http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 for two seasons, had said that the Blues don’t stand a chance against the Camp Nou side. Nevertheless, the Ivorian footballer felt differently on the matter, insisting that it was
a battle between the best team in the world, against a team which have done remarkably well in the last couple of games.
“It’s still a difficult game but I still believe we can pull it through.” He added.
