Question:

Defend a Knee to the Groin?

Well, I should know this since I've been doing MMA / Kickboxing for about 4 years. But does anyone have maybe a tutorial or tell me a technique that could block an incoming knee to the groin quickly and efficiently. I guessed an inward parry, but I find that it isn't a powerful enough block to stop a knee thats headed for your crotch. Any Ideas?

  1. owwch

knee them in the groin first :]

  2. he can not knee you in the groin, if you keep him busy with punches and elbows, and head-butt.

If you do kung fu, you can check his legs with your knee.

If he knee you in the groin, you are allow to elbow him in the face, strike his throat. (But that is a bit too far for sparring amount friends, you should get new friend, if your friend is an idiot. But this may be a chance for you to learn groin defence.)

  3. A good defense against recieving a knee to the crotch is to not do anything that might warrent a knee to the crotch.

I can't speak for everyone, but personally, I think that a knee to the crotch is a super cheap shot and should only be administered in extreme cases (examples: molestation, extremely rude behavior, cheating on a girlfriend).

Keep your nose clean and I'm sure you won't need any special moves.

Unless you have a habit of fighting super girly men who find it appropriate to knee crotches.

  4. wear a cup

  5. Don't let them get close enough to knee you in the first place....

  6. Knee him in the nades, and see if he thinks it's funny...if he does...make his day every time. Crack up all day long.

  7. Become a woman via s*x change.  This is the only proven safe route.

  8. If you have a friend who thinks it's funny to knee you in the crotch, you need a better class of friend.

That may solve the problem once and for all.

  9. a low block

  10. turn to the side

  11. Turn slightly to the side. Keep it simple and move in, strike upper body as their knee comes up.

  12. The way I use (even though I'm a girl) is a modified closed crane. (I do mixed martial arts not kick-boxing) A closed crane is basically a a knee straight up and held level with about your belt (depending on how flexible you are) with your half at approx a ninety degrre angle and flexed toes. In the modified version is slightly diagnol and closed in. This way it protects the groin area from direct and off-to-the-side hits.

I would not suggest turning to the side for a couple reasons:

    a) It throws you off balance

    b) It makes it harder to throw your next attack

    c) It's a harder position to defend from

    d) It's slower to get into. Your reaction times would have to be amazing.

    e) It's harder to get back into your proper stance. Takes time, throws you off. All easier ways for your opponent to get at you.

I would also not suggest blocks with your hands or upper body. The kicks may be too powerful and it's hard to protect your face when your hands are protecting your head.

Once you get really experianced and comfortable in your style, you may be able to do a parry, where you rotate on one foot and move your other foot so that you are at a ninety degree angle with your original position. This often accompanies armbars, chicken wings, and other such moves. This is more difficult and most peoplewho can carry this out succesfully have been training for at least a decade and/or have plenty of athletic talent.

Good luck, and I hope this saved you some pain.

  14. Kick their butt before they have a chance to knee your groin.
