in the upcoming season.

and expects to prove himself at the highest stage next season. He voiced his admiration for the club and the fans and hopes to play his part in the next campaign.
“When it comes to playing in the Bundesliga, you have to be interested in Werder Bremen. They have always had strong and dangerous teams. I am looking forward to playing my part at this club,” he was quoted as saying in an interview
to the club’s official website.
Bremen manager Thomas Schaaf was elated on signing the young left-back and admitted that the club were after the player for a considerable period and are now happy to finally acquire him. He insisted that Schmitz has the tendency
to improve and that he could be a very important part of the team next term.
“We have pursued him intensely in recent weeks and we are pleased to have been able to sign him. We are gaining a player who is looking to improve and who we want to help us return to winning ways,” the manager claimed.
Schmitz made 52 league appearances for Schalke in his two seasons with the first-team, scoring two goals in the process. He is a versatile player and can play as full-back and central midfield positions.
